Laser Therapy

Laser therapy uses focused light energy to reduce pain and inflammation and support tissue healing at the cellular level. Here’s how this modern treatment works at Kyro Care.

What Is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy, sometimes called low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or cold laser therapy, uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular activity in the underlying tissue. This process, known as photobiomodulation, can help reduce pain and inflammation and support the body’s natural healing response.

Unlike surgical or hot lasers, therapeutic lasers don’t generate heat or damage tissue. Instead, the light energy is absorbed by cells, which can enhance cellular energy production and support tissue repair.

How Laser Therapy Works

Laser therapy is applied directly to the skin over the treatment area using a handheld laser device.

Preparation

The treatment area is exposed, and protective eyewear is provided for both you and your provider.

Application

The laser device is applied directly to or held just above the skin over the treatment area for several minutes.

Sensation

Most patients feel little to nothing during treatment, occasionally a mild warmth.
